A Weekend of National Championship Triumphs for On Athletes

13 On Athlete crowned themselves national champs over the weekend

ZURICH, Switzerland, February 24, 2025 – Across Europe and the United States, On athletes delivered exceptional performances at national indoor championships this past weekend. Of 27 competitors, 13 secured national titles, with an additional 7 earning silver and 5 claiming bronze medals.

British Indoor Championships: Mills Sets Record, Walcott-Nolan Advances

In Birmingham, the British Indoor Championships witnessed standout performances from George Mills and Revée Walcott-Nolan. Mills dominated the 3000m, achieving a new championship record of 7:40.16, nearly ten seconds faster than the previous 1986 record, securing his first national title. Walcott-Nolan earned a silver medal in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.57, behind Olympic bronze medalist Georgia Hunter Bell. Both Mills and Walcott-Nolan have qualified for the European Indoor Championships. Cari Hughes, representing OAC Europe, finished fifth in the 3000m with a time of 8:59.24.

Swiss Championships: Lobalu and Kambundji Shine in St. Gallen

The Swiss Indoor Athletic Championships in St. Gallen showcased the talents of Dominic Lobalu, Ditaji Kambundji, Rachel Pellaud, and Lilly Nägeli. Lobalu captured the 1500m national title in 3:48.63, a year after his Swiss Championship debut, with Silas Zurfluh close behind. Kambundji, a recent addition to the team, fulfilled expectations by winning the 60m hurdles in 7.82. In a highly competitive 800m race, Pellaud secured the bronze medal in 2:02.50, while Fiona von Flüe finished fifth with a personal best of 2:06.55. Nägeli earned a silver medal in the 1500m running 4:36.18.

 

French National Championships: Triple Victory in Miramas

Miramas, in southern France, hosted the French National Championships, where Sarah Madeleine, Agathe Guillemot, and Louey Ouerrat achieved national titles. Madeleine won the 3000m in 9:15.79. Guillemot continued her strong 2025 season by winning the 1500m in 4:09.43, setting a new championship record and retaining her title. Ouerrat secured his first elite national title in the 800m, finishing in 1:47.39. Corentin Leclezio placed ninth in the same race.

German Championships: Burghardt Wins 60m, Bremm Close Second

In Dortmund, Alexandra Burghardt, a dual-season Olympian, won the 60m national title in 7.13, achieving a personal best and qualifying for the Indoor World Championships. Florian Bremm narrowly missed the 3000m title, finishing in 7:51.13, just 0.10 seconds behind Maximillian Thorwirth. Jolanda Kallabis earned a bronze medal in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.52, while Olivia Gürth finished fifth in 4:15.66.

Polish, Czech, Norwegian and Dutch Championships: Silver and Bronze Medals

At the Polish National Championships, Angelika Sarna took silver in the 800m with a time of 2:00.86, and Alicja Konieczek earned silver in the 3000m in 8:53.00. In the Czech Republic, Kristiina Mäki won the 1500m in 4:10.16. At the Dutch Indoor Championships, Bregje Sloot and Noah Baltus each secured bronze medals in the 800m and 1500m, respectively. Baltus finished in 3:37.78. Jocoub Boutera of Norway claimed silver in the 3000m race at the Norwegian Indoor Championships.

Italian and Spanish Championships: Double Wins and National Titles

At the Italian National Championships, Cavalli and Riva both achieved double victories. Cavalli won the 1500m in 4:11.37 and the 3000m in 9:03.66. Riva won the 1500m in 3:54.37 and the 3000m in 7:57.12. In Spain, Mohamed Attaoui won the 1500m in 3:48.61, and Marta Garcia earned silver in the 3000m.

US National Championships: Jacobs and Hurta-Klecker Medal

At the US National Championships in Staten Island, New York, Dylan Jacobs of OAC Global secured a silver medal in the 3000m, finishing just 0.02 seconds behind Hobbs Kessler, qualifying for the Indoor World Championships. Sage Hurta-Klecker, also of OAC Global, won the bronze medal in the 800m in 2:00.13.
