Mills and Pratt post Personal Bests in front of 25 thousand fans in Silesian Stadium

Athletes commented on the atmosphere, and contagious energy of the Polish fans in the Diamond League lead up to the World Championships. The men’s 1500M offered scorching temperatures as well as times. At 30 °C, Jakob Ingebrigtsen clocked a 3:27.14 for the win, a new World Lead, and led the field to nine personal bests. George Mills finished in 8th place, shaving a few seconds off his PB, coming in at a blistering 3:31.54.

In the 3000M Women, the sentiments about the energy from the crowd were the same. Aimee Pratt finished in 8:44.15 with a new personal best, ranking her into eleventh place. Her fellow competitor stated, “The audience is beautiful and helped me a lot. I have never seen and never run in front of so many people.”

On the 800M side of things, Sage Hurta-Klecker flew to her fastest time this season, of 1:58.09, ranking her just off the podium in fourth place.

Olivia Gürth runs and leaps her way to the U23 European Championship Title in the 3000M Steeplechase

The reigning European U20 Champion added the U23 European Championship title to her ever growing list of accolades. Gürth ran a very tactical race, holding back, just behind the leader for most of the race, before unleashing a great kick over the last lap to cross the finish in first place, with a new PB and new Championship Record of 9:26.98.

WTS Hamburg Super Sprint World Championship, Team SUI with the bronze, Blummenfelt just off the podium

The World Triathlon Hamburg was already part of the ITU World Cup when it was first held and has been part of the World Triathlon Championship Series since 2009, bringing the best triathletes in the world to the Hanseatic city. In 2007 the first triathlon world championships in Germany took place in Hamburg and from 2013 to 2019 the annual mixed relay world championships as part of the World Triathlon Championship Series.

In 2023 the triathlon world championships will take place again in Hamburg as part of the World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships. This includes the World Triathlon Championship Series for elite athletes, as well as the Junior World Championships, the Age Group Sprint World Championships and the Elite Mixed Relay World Championships for elite, junior/U23 and Age Group athletes categories.

Saturday, July 15 served as not only the World Triathlon Series Hamburg, but also as the World Championships for the Super Sprint distance.

In the Super Sprint Relay, the team from Switzerland, consisting of On athletes Max Studer and Julie Derron swam, biked and ran their way on to the podium, walking away with the bronze. Surely a good sign going in to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where this relay will be a part of the Olympic program.

On had four athletes qualify for the Super Spring World Championships Finals. On the men’s side, Kristian Blummenfelt led the team, coming in just seconds off the podium in fourth place with a time of 19:32, and Max Studer right behind him in sixth (19:38). A truly impressive showing for such a short race. On the women’s side, Verena Steinhauser and Lisa Tertsch also qualified for finals, and finished in 13th and 23rd respectively.

On triathlete, Martin Schulz took an impressive win at the World Triathlon Para Series Swansea, while Leah Kaplan earned a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Para Cup Long Beach. Great finishes all around.
