Cyclon. What is a circular economy?

The life cycle of products usually works along the lines of " production - usage - disposal." The consequences: Mountains of waste, air pollution, and lots of CO2 emissions pollute our environment. On wants to sustainably change consumer behaviour in the footwear and textile industry and break through the usual, linear product life cycles.

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – The Swiss running brand On is convinced that the future of its products is not linear, but runs in a circle. This begins with design and ends with recycling. Then the whole cycle starts again. On's design and innovation team are working on plans for a constant cycle of all their products. This is definitely not an easy task. Because even if the cycle can be installed at On, the next challenge appears: namely, getting the products back from consumers so that the materials can be reused. In addition, no compromise is accepted when it comes to quality. On believes that sustainability and performance are not contradictory, but complementary.

On aims to take the first step with Cyclon: A 100% recyclable performance running shoe made from castor beans. But that is not enough. Because even a recyclable product that simply ends up in the trash after use has gained little. That's why the Swiss manufacturer feels responsible for collecting the products it produces. For this purpose, the first subscription service for running shoes and clothing was introduced. On wants to show that not the possession, but the experience with the product is in the foreground.
