Flavio Cobolli lifts the Hamburg Open Title
The Italian secures the biggest title of his career at the ATP 500 event
Zurich, Switzerland, May 26, 2025 - After a magical run in the German port city of Hamburg, Flavio Cobolli (ITA) overcame third seed Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 in the final to capture the ATP 500 title at the Hamburg Open - the biggest title of his career.
En route to the final, Cobolli, defeated lucky loser Vitaliy Sachko (UKR) 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, fifth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ESP) 6-4, 7-5, Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) 7-6, 6-0 and Tomas Martin Etcheverry (ARG) 2-6, 7-5, 6-4).
In the final, facing former champion and third seed Andrey Rublev, Cobolli used his aggressive playing style and athleticism to overcome Rublev’s power and pressure plays. The Italian took the opening set convincingly, before Rublev went up 3-2 in the second set. However, the Russian was unable to hold on to the momentum, and Cobolli converted four break-point chances to win the match in just one hour and 28 minutes.
The smile could hardly be wiped off Cobolli’s face following the match:
“I am really happy. I passed many battles this year, and this kind of day is good for your mind. I am so happy. I just want to lift the trophy.”
Cobolli joins Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime as just the third player to win multiple ATP Tour titles this year, following his win at the Bucharest Open earlier this year. He now rises to a new career high ranking of 26 as he heads to Paris for the French Open, where he will face Croatian Marin Čilić in the opening round.
