Paris, France, August 5, 2024 - After an incredible collegiate season and making the Olympic team for the first time, Juliette Whittaker secured an Olympic Diploma, finishing seventh in the 800m women’s final in the Stade de France.
Having run a 2:00.45 in the heat and a new PB of 1:57.76 in the semi-final, Whittaker was up against favorite Keely Hodgkinson (GBR) and home crowd favorite Renelle Lamote under the Sunday night lights in Paris.
Whittaker found herself in lane two as the start gun went. The pack stayed together across the first 500 meters but as the final bell rang out and the leaders picked up the pace, Whittaker was unable to stay up front and fell back into seventh place, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:58.50
Kevin Quadrozzi, Athlete Manager at On, shared his pride following Whitakker’s performance:
"We couldn’t be more proud of Juliette. She’s had one of the greatest collegiate seasons ever, winning the indoor and outdoor titles. To then go on and make the Olympic team and final on her debut at the Games is nothing short of incredible.”
