Gold in Aix-en-Provence and on the Italian Trails

Kristian Blummenfelt and Philemon Kiriago storm to victories in France and Italy, while Dominic Lobalu secures silver in Doha

Zurich, Switzerland, May 19, 2025 - A successful weekend for On athletes on the triathlon courses in Aix-en-Provence and Yokohama, at the Diamond League meet in Doha, and at the third stop of the Golden Trail World Series in Noli, Italy.

Blummenfelt is well and truly back

Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) produced a masterclass performance to take home the win at the Ironman 70.3 in Aix-en-Provence, France. Coming into the run, Blummenfelt, fourth at that point, quickly eliminated the two-minute lead that Ruben Zepuntke (GER) had built over the bike course. Blummenfelt took 20 seconds out of Zepunkte within the first kilometer, and it didn’t take long for the Norwegian to turn on the jets and pull away from the field. Completing the half-marathon in 1:07.12, and taking home the win in a total time of 03:41.08.

Frenchman and fellow On athlete Pierre Le Corre also delivered a blistering run, completing the half-marathon in 1:07.18 and ultimately claiming fifth place in a time of 03:43.04.

In Yokohama, Japan, Lisa Tertsch (GER) secured bronze at the World Triathlon Series. Tertsch was on course for a podium finish from the get-go, with a battle for the medal colours forming between Beth Potter (GBR), Jeanne Lehair (LUX) during the race, as reigning World Champion Cassandre Beaugrand (FRA) crashed out on the bike course. As the run portion of the race progressed, it was clear that Lehair would come away with gold, and with the finish line in sight, Tertsch had to let Botter go and settle for bronze. Her third-place finish means the German triathlete leads the World Ranking.

In the Para Triathlon Series, Mohamed Lahna (USA) came away with the bronze medal. Lahna now sits in second place overall in the PTS2 series, with eyes on gold at the next stop of the series in Samarkand, Uzbechestan.

Silver for Lobalu in Doha

At the Diamond League meeting in Doha, Qatar, Dominic Lobalu (SUI) celebrated a silver medal in the 5000m distance, following a small injury earlier this year. Despite leading the race, together with new On teammate Samuel Tefara (ETH), for a few laps, Lobalu had to watch as Reynold Cheruiyot (KEN) pulled away to secure the win in 13:16.40, with Lobalu following in 13:17.70 and a new season's best.

Kiriago Storms to Victory

During the third stop of the Golden Trail World Series in Noli, Italy, Philemon Kiriago ran to victory on the 26km long course with 1430m of elevation, securing the overall lead in the 2025 series. Taking off at a blistering pace, Kiriago found himself in a battle with Elhousine Elazzaoui (MOR) by kilometer 14.5. Taking advantage of Elazzaoui’s struggle on the final descent, Kiriago broke away to claim the victory in a time of 2:01.47.
