Gustav Iden and Kristian Blummenfelt Finish Second and Third in Nice

The Two Norwegians return to the podium at the Ironman World Championships in Nice

Nice, France, September 14, 2025 - On Athletes Gustav Iden and Kristian Blummenfelt finished second and third, respectively, at the Ironman World Championships in Nice, France. The victory went to their fellow Norwegian, Casper Stornes, who powered to the front to claim the win in a time of 7:51:36. Iden and Blummenfelt finished with times of 7:54:13 and 7:56:34, making it a historic sweep of the podium for the Norwegian men.

Coming out of the water, Blummenfelt found himself in the chase pack, 30 seconds behind the top 10. Iden was another 30 seconds behind, but the two soon found themselves together on the bike, chasing down the leaders. At times, moving into the top ten positions before dropping back and moving forward again, the two Norwegians eventually came into T2 in fourth and fifth place.

Wasting no time, the two took off, and by kilometre 15 had built a 30-second lead. The two On athletes, however, couldn’t hold off Stornes, who powered to the front and ultimately took home the win in the French Riviera. A key factor in their blistering pace was the On Cloudboom Strike LS, featuring a revolutionary upper crafted with LightSpray™ technology. This unique, single-step manufacturing process uses a robotic arm to spray a continuous filament, creating an ultralight, seamless, and lace-free upper that provided a second-skin fit and optimal support for the final leg of the race.

Iden, a two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, first captured the full-distance world title in Kona, Hawaii, in 2022 with a record-setting performance. His journey back to the podium has been a testament to his dedication, overcoming a season plagued by injuries and setbacks.

Blummenfelt, known for his relentless power and mental fortitude, navigated the challenging swim, the mountainous bike course of the French Alps, and the grueling run along the Promenade des Anglais. His third-place finish is a testament to his sheer will to compete and a mark of his unwavering commitment to the sport, even when faced with adversity.
