Paris, France, June 11, 2023 - On athlete Iga Świątek has claimed the brand’s first-ever major tennis title by claiming her third French Open trophy in Paris. The Pole was in commanding, irresistible form and breezed through the tournament without losing a set until facing off in a gritty three-set final against Karolina Muchova.

On her way to the title, Świątek beat both Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and American Claire Liu 6:4, 6:0 respectively in the first two rounds of the tournament before leaving not the slightest hint of a chance for Xinyu Wang, who fell to Świątek in 6:0, 6:0. In the fourth round, Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko had to retire in the first set, leaving a clear path for the 22-year-old title defender to advance to the quarterfinals where No. 6 seed Coco Gauff awaited. But also here, the Pole remained in full control as she dispatched the American in 6:4, 6:2 and followed up with a 6:2, 7:6 victory over Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad-Maia in the semi-finals.

In the final, Świątek made an authoritative start by winning the first three games of the opening set and kept the pressure on, forcing her opponent into making errors. She secured the opening set in 6-2 in 45 minutes and had backed up Muchova in a corner by taking a whirlwind 3-0 lead in the second set. But the Czech found momentum when it counted and secured a break and a dramatic turnaround to win the set 5:7.

In the third set, both women struggled to secure a decisive advantage, surrendering service games only to break their opponents right back. Ultimately, Świątek managed to break Muchova for the seventh time and win the set in 6-5 and the title when the Czech's second serve ended up in the net.

With her win, the 22-year-old became the first woman since Serena Williams at Wimbledon seven years ago to retain a Grand Slam trophy and the first woman to win back-to-back trophies in Paris since Justine Henin in 2007. With her triumph, the 22-year-old's merit list now includes four major titles (French Open in 2020, 2022, and 2023 and the US Open in 2022), among her 14 singles titles.
