Isabella Whittaker and Dejanea Oakley Win Medals in the 4x400m Relay in Tokyo
Whittaker Takes Gold with the U.S., Oakley Takes Silver with Jamaica
Tokyo, Japan, September 21, 2025 - On the final day of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Isabella Whittaker (USA) and Dejanea Oakley (JAM) won gold and silver medals in the 4x400m relay, respectively.
Whittaker and Oakley faced each other in the first leg of the relay, opening the night for their teams. Whittaker completed her 400m leg, handing off to Lynna Irby-Jackson. Aaliyah Butler and Sydney McLaughlin-Leverone then took over to finish the race in a championship record of 3:16.61.
Running a 50.50 opening lap for Jamaica, Oakley put her team in a strong position coming into the first handover. She passed the baton to Stacey Ann Williams, Andrenette Knight, and Nickisha Pryce, who covered the 1600m in a season-best time of 3:19.25 for the Jamaican team.
Recently signed NIL athlete T'Maars McCallum, a key contributor in the preliminary heats, helped secure Team USA's gold medal in the 100m race.

In the men’s 5000m, Ky Robinson of Australia came agonizingly close to winning a medal, finishing just 0.28 seconds behind third-place finisher Jimmy Gressier (FRA). His result is a prideful moment for OAC, for On, and for Australia.
In the women’s 800m final, Sage Hurta-Klecker (USA) set a new personal best, completing the two laps of the track in the Japan National Stadium in 1:55.89. For Hurta-Klecker, this was her USA Debut, and she made the most of it with her new PB and becoming the third fastest American woman in the distance ever.
