On Athlete Marissa Papaconstantinou Claims Two Medals at World Para Athletics Championships
Silver and Bronze mark first World Para Athletics medals for On
New Delhi, India, October 5, 2025 — On athlete Marissa Papaconstantinou (CAN) delivered a double-medal performance at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi. The Canadian sprinter won a bronze medal in the women’s T64 100m final and then followed up with a silver in the T64 200m final. Her medals mark the first World Para Athletics medal in the company's history.
100m: Bronze Beginnings
At the beginning of the championships, she clocked a time of 13.06 seconds to finish third in the 100m finals, only beaten by the world record holder, Fleur Jong (12.29s), and Marlene van Gansewinkel (12.86s), both of the Netherlands.
Papaconstantinou’s performance came after a third-place qualification in her heat earlier in the day, and after a traffic jam on the way to the stadium had left athletes with just minutes to prepare for their race.
200m: A Silver Upgrade
Papaconstantinou's silver medal performance in the women's T64 200m final solidified her as a world-class sprinter. She crossed the finish line in a time of 27.07 seconds, taking her second podium finish of the championships, only second to the Netherland’s van Gansewinkel this time.
A Paralympian and Canadian record holder, and on the On roster since June 2025, the result marks Papaconstantinou’s first career World Para Athletics silver medal, a notable upgrade from her previous bronze medals in both the 100m and 200m at the 2023 World Championships and another at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
