From Cape Town's Ultra Trails to the Davis Cup Court and NCAA Championships, On Athletes Secured Global Victories and Historic Milestones Across the Weekend.

Zurich, Switzerland, November 24, 2025 - This past weekend was a true global showcase for On athletes, who delivered monumental achievements across three major sports. From the dramatic comeback victory of Jeff Mogavero in the Cape Town 100K Ultra Marathon to the historic Davis Cup triumph sealed by tennis star Flavio Cobolli for Italy, and the dominant, record-breaking defense of the NCAA Cross Country title by Doris Lemngole.
Cape Town 100k: Jeff Mogavero Executes Dramatic Comeback for Ultra Victory
Jeff Mogavero (USA) completed a stunning victory at the Ultra Marathon Cape Town in the 100k distance this past weekend, taking the win in 11:04.53, just over 25 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Dmitry Mityaev.
With a reputation for rugged and technical trails with incredible steep gradients, the 100k course with 4676m of elevation was not going to be an easy feat, but Mogavero took on the challenge and charged up the first climb, taking the lead. He was not alone, followed closely by Dmitry Mityaev and Chris Myers. Mogavero, however, managed to stay out front as the race progressed, and by the 30km mark had widened his lead to over three minutes. However, by the 80km mark, Mityaev had managed to pass Mogavero and build a four-minute lead over the American, who had fallen into third place with Matt Healy also overtaking him. But never out for the count, Mogavero summoned his speed and strength for the final ascent, regaining the lead and holding on to take the victory.
In the women’s race, Alyssa Clark (USA) had been given the “wildcard” title and fulfilled this title, entering the top five by kilometer 32. She wouldn’t let that slip away from her, and with top frontrunners dropping out in the final quarter of the race, she made her move, securing a fourth-place finish in 14:03.11
Italian Pride: Flavio Cobolli Clinches Historic Davis Cup Hat-Trick
Flavio Cobolli will remember the 23rd of November for a long time, as he helped secure Italy’s third consecutive victory in the Davis Cup Competition. Italy becomes the first country to win three consecutive titles in the post-Challenge Round era, which began in 1972.
Having won a 32-point deciding tiebreaker in the semi-final to take Italy to the finals, Cobolli was ready to give it his all on the court for his country. Playing in Bologna, Berrettini secured the first point for Italy in a straight set win against Carreno Busta, and it was down to Cobolli to secure the title.
Playing against Jaume Munar, Cobolli was surprised by the Spaniards aggressive and attacking style, losing the first set 1-6. Munar continued strongly in the second set, but Cobolli wasn’t going to let the Italian fans down. Gradually taking charge, he forced the second set into a tiebreaker, which was some of the best tennis on court that day. Ultimately, Cobolli won the second set, forcing a third and deciding set. Breaking at 5-5 in the last set, Cobolli sealed the deal for Italy and secured their Davis Cup victory.
Speaking after the win, he said, “It’s impossible to describe this feeling. I dreamed a lot for this night. I played an amazing match. At the end I looked a little bit at my bench, I found something in my body, in my heart. I gave everything for this team.”
NCAA Cross Country History
The Gans Creek Cross Country Course, located in Missouri, United States, hosted the NCAA Cross Country Championships this past weekend. Doris Lemngole of the University of Alabama delivered a sensational performance to repeat as the individual champion at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Running a course-record time of 18:25.4, she became the first woman to win back-to-back titles since 2011. The race was a compelling battle with freshman Jane Hedengren of BYU, whom Lemngole ultimately broke with a decisive kick in the final 500 meters. She finished with a dominant 13.5-second margin of victory, setting the fastest winning time in NCAA XC history. This title marks her fifth national championship win in a year that also included a 5th-place finish at the World Championships.
Wake Forest junior Rocky Hansen capped off a phenomenal season by finishing as the national runner-up at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Hansen completed the men's 10k race in 28:38.0, earning him his first career All-American honor.
