Torun, Poland – March 23, 2026 – On Athletics Club (OAC) Europe’s Mohamed Attaoui secured his first senior global medal with a tactical bronze-medal performance in the men’s 800m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26.
In an intense and highly tactical final, Attaoui—known to fans as “Rocket Moha”—demonstrated remarkable composure. He timed his moves with precision, staying calm through the high-speed early laps before launching a signature strong finishing kick down the home straight. Crossing the line in 1:44.66, Attaoui secured the bronze medal and a place on the world stage.
A Smart Race for a Global Milestone
Attaoui’s podium finish capped a weekend of record-breaking running. In the qualifying rounds, he signaled his intent by shattering the Spanish Indoor Record with a time of 1:44.48.
During Sunday’s showdown, despite a blistering pace that saw 17-year-old American Cooper Lutkenhaus set a new world age-group standard, Attaoui remained tactically sound. By maintaining his position at the front of the chasing pack and utilizing his trademark closing speed, he fended off a late surge from Australia’s Peter Bol to ensure his spot on the podium.
