OAC Athletes claim two wins and three podium spots at Penn Relays
The 2023 Penn Relays took place at Franklin Field, Philadelphia last weekend and OAC athletes Josette Norris, Sinta Vissa, Geordie Beamish and Mario Garcia Romo dominated the women’s and men’s mile events.
Philadelphia, United States, May 1, 2023 - On athletes turned it on at Penn Relays. The historic meet once again brought in top high school, college, and professional fields to compete on one of track and field's most prestigious stages. Among those competing in the elite men’s and women’s categories were OAC’s Josette Norris, Sinta Vissa, Sage Hurta-Klecker, Geordie Beamish, Mario Garcia Romo, and Joe Klecker, as well as On athlete Aaliyah Miller.
Especially on the mile distance, On Athletics Club athletes dominated and brought two 1-2s home for the Swiss sportswear company’s professional team of track athletes. On the women’s side, Josette Norris claimed a clear win and finished in 4:04.88. Teammate Sinta Vissa followed on rank two with a time of 4:07.27.
On the men’s side, Geordie Beamish and Mario Garcia Romo repeated the feat, with Beamish winning in 3:57.68 and Garcia Romo crossing the finish line in second in 3:57.98. Joe Klecker came in ninth in a time of 3:59.49.
On also had two athletes competing in the shorter 800 and 600-meter events. Aaliyah Miller was just off the podium in fourth (2:05.39) in the 800 meters. In the 600m event, she finished seventh (1:28.69). Sage Hurta-Klecker added yet another podium result to the OAC tally with third place in 1:25.33 in the same event.
