Zurich, Switzerland, April 18, 2023 - Next to Hellen Obiri’s Marathon triumph in Boston, also other Team On athletes have been in action on the last weekend and claimed everything from wins, podiums, personal bests, course, and national records.
On-Trail Team convinces across continents
The On-Trail team showed a convincing performance last weekend with podium results and Top Ten positions at races in Istria, Patagonia, and Colorado. Claudia Tremps (ESP) had a strong showing at the Patagonia 100100-mile mile race and ended up taking the win in the women’s category and an overall sixth place with a time of 22:50.43, which was also a new women's record.
French trail runner Arthur Joyeux-Bouillon was the runner-up at the UTMB World Series race Istria 168k, finishing right behind winner Jim Wamsley in 18:46:54. On teammate Jeff Colt (USA) took third place at Desert Rats by UTMB 50km in Frutia, Colorado with a time of 3:39:16.
Meanwhile, in Central California, On athlete Zach Friedley’s Born to Adapt event created opportunities for adaptive athletes of all levels to race on the trails and provide more exposure to adaptive athletes in the sport.
Ben Flanagan sets Canadian record at Boston Athletics Association 5k
On athlete Ben Flanagan ran to his second Canadian record in six months and is now the new Canadian record holder on the road 5k distance. The 28-year-old had a great run and captured second place, obliterating the Canadian record in. 13 minutes 26 seconds. His time is nine seconds faster than Charles Philibert-Thiboutot's winning effort in last year's race.
Adrian MacDonald and Genevieve Harrison raced the Horsetooth Half Marathon in Fort Collins, Colorado, and claimed top positions: MacDonald finished ninth in 1:13:13., and Harrison successfully finished her first road half marathon in 16th with a time of 1:29.22.
New PB and course record for Gebreselama at Paderborn Easter Run
On the previous weekend, Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama set a new personal best at Paderborn Easter Run, Germany's oldest running race. Gebreselama finished the 10 km race in 30:29, smashing the existing course record (31:00) by half a minute. Fellow On athlete Purity Kajuju finished faster than the previous course record as well and ranked third in 30:57.
