On Athletes Deliver Historic Showing at European Athletic Championships with 7 Medal Haul

Seven individual and two team triumphs mark a historic milestone for Team On.

Birmingham, UK - August 17, 2026 - On Athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham this past week, securing a total of seven individual medals and two team medals. Highlighted by gold in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, podium finishes across middle and long distances, and key contributions from On Athletics Club (OAC) Europe, the championships also celebrated milestone success for On’s proprietary LightSpray™ footwear innovation on the international track.

Steeplechase Success Across Women’s and Men’s Events

German distance star Gesa Krause captured the European title in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Relying on her veteran championship experience in a tactical race, Krause made a decisive push over the final 300m and attacked the final water jump to take victory in 9:12.69. German Teammate Olvia Gürth completed a double podium for On by claiming the bronze medal with a strong time of 9:15.33.

On the men’s side, OAC athlete Karl Bebendorf (GER) executed a brilliant tactical race, staying near the back of the pack for most of the event before powering through with a strong final lap to cross the line in third and claim the bronze medal.

Bremm and Garcia Deliver Silver-Medal Performances in the 5000m

The championships featured thrilling 5000m finals, with both Florian Bremm (GER) and Marta Garcia (ESP) securing silver medals for their powerful performances. Bremm demonstrated tactical prowess in the men's race, unleashing a formidable kick on the final lap to finish in 13:15.60. In the women’s event, Garcia showcased her strength with a strong close, clocking 15:39.98 to upgrade the bronze medal she won earlier this season in Rome.

The races also served as a successful debut for the LS Citius 2 on the international outdoor track. Both Bremm and Garcia competed in the new shoe, which is the first to feature On’s innovative LightSpray™ upper technology.

Silver and Top-10 Finishes in the Men's 10,000m

In a fast-paced men’s 10,000m final, Dominic Lobalu showed consistency throughout, making his move six laps from the finish. Pushing hard through the closing stretch, Lobalu earned the silver medal in a season’s best time of 27:42.67, marking his fourth international medal. On athletes, Yeman Crippa (ITA) finished fourth in 28:08.56 after a tough battle in the final 200 meters, and Jonas Raess (SUI) stopped the clock in a season’s best of 28:22.41 to secure eighth place.

Middle Distance Podium in the Men's 800m

In a tense 800m final decided on the edge, Mohamed Attaoui demonstrated his standing among Europe’s elite runners. Staying patient and calm through two tactical laps, Attaoui delivered a brilliant finish to take third place in 1:45.71 and add another bronze medal to On's tally.

A Strong First Chapter for On × FIDAL

The Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships marked a triumphant first chapter for the On x FIDAL partnership. Cementing their status as Europe's leading track and field federation, the Italian national team topped the medal table for the second consecutive edition, securing an impressive 10 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Beyond the track, On elevated the athlete experience by co-hosting the 'Casa Atletica Italiana' and 'On Athlete Hub'—a dedicated space for athletes, families, and partners to connect, celebrate, and experience On's product innovation firsthand. This historic week not only highlighted the global impact of Italy's world-class athletes but also laid a strong foundation for the future of the On and FIDAL collaboration.
