Baptiste Chassagne Victorious at Diagnol des Fous on his Debut

After 23 hours, 31 minutes and 54 seconds, Baptiste Chassagne (FRA) crowned himself the new champion of the Diagonal des Fous - the iconic trail race held on Reunion Island. Having completed the 175km with over 10,000m of elevation, Chassagne was welcomed by a huge crowd, and confetti. Less than three weeks after his 11th place finish and the long trail World Championships in Spain, he lead from start to finish at his debut of the race. Chassagne finished nearly an hour ahead of second place finishe Yannick Noël (FRA) and over an hour and a half ahead of Aurélien Dunand-Pallaz (FRA) who took third.
Triathletes Win Big Down Under
The triathlon circuits traveled to Wollongong, Australia for a series of races. From T100 to the World Triathlon Championship finals, there was something for everyone, and a lot of wins from On triathletes.
Lisa Tertsch crowned herself the world champion in the Olympic triathlon distance, surprising herself and the triathlon world with her success. What was meant to be a showdown between Beth Potter and Cassandre Beaugrand, who were tied in the rankings, soon became a sensational and historic win for Tertsch, who is the first German female triathlete to win the world title in the Olympic Distance and the first for On. Tertsch had kicked off her season strongly, with her victory in Abu Dhabi and a third-place finish in Yokohama. After that, her season calmed down slightly, but she was able to get back to her best form in autumn, with a third-place finish in Karlsbad and second place in China. A strong run sealed the victory in Wollongong and secured Tertsch her first world title.

Asked what the race meant to her, Tertsch said: ”At the moment, this result still feels a bit surreal and I need some time to digest it and let it sink in. Becoming World Champion was a goal of mine, but one that I thought I would need to put in a lot more work and patience to achieve, not that I would get it already this season.”
Fellow On triathlete Kate Waugh (GBR) was also victorious in Wollongong, this time on the T100 Distance. In the front group on the swim, she moved to the head of the pack on the bike and never looked back on the run. She was over four minutes clear of second place Perez Sala as she started the last of the seven laps and never let that lead slip to win her second race of the season after her vicotry in Singapour. Ashleigh Gentle powererd past Perez to claim silver, finishing six minutes behind Waugh.

Waugh is now in pole position at the top of the overall women’s rankings, with one regular season race left ahead of the grand finale. Gentle is in third.
Competing in the World Triathlon Parachampionships in the PTS2 classification, Mohamed Lahna (USA) had a bronze medal to celebrate after completing the course in 01:10.12, just six seconds behind second-place finisher Wim De Paepe (BEL).
Amsterdam Champion: Aynalem Desta
At the marathon in Amsterdam, Aynalem Desta (ETH) claimed the win in 02:17.37, breaking her old PB by almost five minutes. The Ethiopian athlete, who only ran her first marathon last December, sat inside an Ethiopian group that threw the first 10k and the halfway point. As the kilometer marker hit 30km, there were only four left, and with a late push, Desta pulled clear, taking the win ahead of her fellow countrywomen.
On the men’s side, Getnaeh Molla (ETH) crossed the finish line in 02:04.18, claiming third place and the fastest time ever run in an On shoe over the marathon distance.
Canadian Marathon Champion on Debut
Ben Flanagan celebrated his marathon debut in dazzling fashion, taking home the Canadian title at the marathon in Toronto. Flanagan completed the race in 2:15.39, battling winds as strong as 53km per hour during the race. Flanagan moved up to the marathon distance after a successful track and mid-distance career, including representing Canada at the Paris Olympics in the 5000m distance.
