ZURICH, Switzerland, 24.03.2024 - A weekend filled with On athletes showcasing what they do best: competing, winning, and setting new PBs.

Triple Triumph in Triathlon Competitions

At the European Triathlon Cup in Quarteira, Portugal, On athletes Hugo Milner (GBR) and Lisa Tertsch (GER) claimed their first wins of the season, showing just how important being a strong runner is.

Leaving the water in 35th place and 55 seconds behind the leader, Hugo Milner couldn’t quite close the gap over the 40km bike leg and had to clock a sub-30:00 minute run split to retain a shot at the podium. Relying on his running strength, Milner did just that and completed the 10k run in an incredible time of 29:32 to finish first, ahead of two-time world champion Vincent Luis. Hopefully, this strong performance has helped Milner's chances of fulfilling his Olympic dream. Team GB will announce their selection in May.

On the women’s side, five of the current top nine athletes from 2023 took to the start line, including On athlete Lisa Tertsch (GER). After a close swim, a lead pack of 10 athletes, including Tertsch, broke away in the cycling leg and stayed together through the second transition zone and into the beginning of the run.

As the run continued, it became clear that the podium would feature Lisa Tertsch, Cassandre Beaugrand (FRA), and Georgia Taylor-Brown (GB). The only question still open was the color of the respective medals. Beaugrand made her move in the final kilometer of the run, but Taylor-Brown and Tertsch managed to hold on. In the final 400m of the race, Tertsch managed to shake off the other two competitors and crossed the finish line first after a long sprint. Already qualified for Paris, this strong performance puts her forward as one of the favourites for gold. Fellow On athlete Nor Gmür (SUI) crossed the finish line two minutes later, finishing in sixth.

At the World Triathlon Cup in Hong Kong, Spanish On triathlete Alberto Gonzales Garcia continued his strong form from Napier and took home the gold, five seconds ahead of Antonio Serrat Seoane (ESP). Continuously part of the lead pack, Garcia made a decisive move at the right time and left all competitors behind to claim his second win of the season and the victory of the inaugural edition of the Hong Kong World Cup.

Team On members Panagiotis Bitados (GRE) and Julie Derron (SUI) came eighth in their respective fields after strong races.

Silver for Tom Bishop at Ironman World 70.3 in Geelong

British On athlete Tom Bishop secured second place at the Ironman World 70.3 event in Geelong, Australia, crossing the finish line just 0.12 seconds behind the winner Sam Osborne (NZL). Locked in a battle throughout the entire race, Bishop and Osborne pulled away at the 7km mark in the running leg, and as their gap to the chase pack widened, the two were locked in a side-by-side battle. Only in the final five kilometers did Osborne manage to slip away from Bishop and secure the win.

New PBs and podium finishes for OAC Oceania athletes at Sydney Track Classic

The OAC Oceania athletes took to the track in Sydney, with two athletes setting new PBs across the 3000m distance.

In the men’s 3000m final Edd Trippas came third in a time of 7:48.80, knocking six seconds off his previous PB. Zachary Facioni followed him shortly after, finishing fifth in 7:49.48.

Maudie Skyring set her own PB in the women’s 3000m race, knocking 12 seconds off her previous personal best and crossing the finish line in 5th in a time of 8:42.96.

In the 800m men’s final, Peyton Craig claimed silver, finishing in 1:45.87, just 0.46 seconds from his PB and Under 20 Australian record set earlier this year.

A first ATP Challenger final

On the tennis court, On youngster Joao Fonseca beat the second seed Roman Andres Burruchaga in a three-set match 7:6, 1:6, 6:3, to secure his first-ever ATP Challenger final in Paraguay. In the final, Fonseca came up short (5:7, 7:6, 1:6), having to concede to fellow Brazilian Gustavo Heide after a fantastic tournament.
