On Athletes Dominate with Double 1-2 Sweeps in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, SEPTEMBER 19, 2026 – Swiss sportswear brand On is celebrating a historic performance at the World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26, after taking gold and silver in both the men’s and women’s road mile events.
Agathe Guillemot (FRA) claimed gold in the women's race with a world-leading European record of 4:22.74, closely followed by teammate Freweyni Hailu (ETH), who earned silver in 4:24.35. In the men’s race, Robert Farken (GER) secured gold in a world-leading German record of 3:51.80 ahead of teammate Yared Nuguse (USA) in 3:52.33, while Oliver Hoare (AUS) finished sixth, setting an Australian record of 3:53.65.
On athletes controlled the narrative along Copenhagen’s Østerbrogade course at the road racing championships, now in its second year. Guillemot and Hailu remained patient within the lead pack before Guillemot unleashed a decisive kick in the final 200 meters to capture her first individual global title and move to fourth on the world all-time list, with Hailu securing her second consecutive global road mile silver.
Minutes later, Farken produced a remarkably similar late surge to pass Nuguse, taking the win and moving into second on the world all-time list, as On athletes completed back-to-back 1-2 finishes.

The championships also served as the competitive debut for the new LightSpray Cloudboom Volt Pro, a product born directly from athlete demand. When On athletes challenged the brand’s innovation team to create an uncompromised shoe engineered for low-stack, aggressive road racing, On delivered in a rapid eight-month collaborative sprint.
Built specifically for the intensity and fast turns of road mile racing, the World Athletics-approved shoe weighs slightly over 100 grams (USM 9.5). It combines a low stack height for direct power transfer with an aggressive rocker shape and a precision LightSpray upper, demonstrating the power of athlete-led Swiss engineering at the highest level of competition. The LS Cloudboom Volt Pro was released in limited quantities earlier this week in selected On stores.
Both Farken and Nuguse wore the new LightSpray Cloudboom Volt Pro, while Guillemot wore the Cloudboom Strike 2 and Hailu wore the LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2.
