On Athletes Kristian Blummenfelt and Solveig Løvseth Deliver a Norwegian Double Victory in Texas

THE WOODLANDS, USA, April 20, 2026 – On athletes delivered a stunning sweep at the North American Championship full-distance triathlon in The Woodlands, Texas, with Norwegian powerhouses Kristian Blummenfelt and Solveig Løvseth both claiming the top spot on the podium. Both their victories were powered by dominant, race-best run splits.

Blummenfelt defended his title in spectacular fashion, finishing in 7:21:24—just 12 seconds shy of the world record he set in 2022. Competing against one of the most decorated fields ever assembled outside of a world championship, the reigning Olympic champion overcame a challenging bike leg to unleash a remarkable 2:30:47 marathon, securing his victory in the final 10km.

"There was a big contrast today how I was struggling on the bike and then suddenly feeling super good again on the run," said Blummenfelt. "I was just hoping that when I came back into T2, I would have some fresh running legs waiting for me. The legs were really responding well when I was making a move to bridge the gap and push past. I'm super stoked to take the win."

The victory continues Blummenfelt's strong season, adding to his recent wins at 70.3 events in Oceanside and Geelong.

In the women’s pro race, Solveig Løvseth executed a masterful strategy to claim her own championship title. After exiting the water with the chase pack, she settled in on the bike before putting on a running clinic. Løvseth methodically erased a deficit and took the lead during the marathon, running the fastest split of the day to finish in 8:11:09, nearly 20 minutes ahead of the third-place finisher.
