Ashleigh Gentle triumphs at T100 in Singapore

Zurich, Switzerland, April 15, 2024- In her On competition debut, Ashleigh Gentle (AUS) displayed an exceptional athletic performance to overcome the Singaporean humidity and heat, hunt down Lucy Charles-Barclay (UK) and claim her first-ever T100 series title.

In her first competition since joining the Swiss sportswear brand earlier this year, Gentle came from behind in the swim and bike sectors to deliver an incredible running performance. Leaving the transition zones in sixth place, following both the swim and bike portions, Gentle had 5:33 minutes to make up for a hope of a medal. She swiftly began her run despite the humidity rising from 58% to 78% as the run unfolded. Gentle made her move on leader Lucy Charles-Barclay with 4km remaining and held on to the lead until the end, finishing the race in 3:44.23.

Despite being in fantastic form, On athlete Chelsea Sodaro struggled in the heat and humidity and decided to call it a day after two loops of the bike course.

Australian Athletics Championships filled with podium finishes, season bests, and Olympic qualification

At the Australian Athletics Championships in Adelaide, Australia, OAC Oceania athletes put on stellar performances with plenty of success to celebrate.

Claudia Hollingsworth's stunning 800m performance proved to be the weekend's highlight. The 19-year-old had her “best day ever” setting a new PB of 1:58.40 and more excitingly punching her ticket to the Paris Olympic Games later this year.

“It’s definitely my best ever day. Having my family and friends and teammates and my coach here, it’s just crazy. I’ve sort of hit the pinnacle of what I can do in Australia, so let's see what I can do overseas.”

OAC Oceania teammate Bendere Oboya joined Hollingsworth on the podium, claiming the bronze medal in 1:59.33. On the men’s side, recent signing Peyton Craig also took home bronze, crossing the line in 1:45.76.

In the women’s 5000m final, Maudie Skyring secured a third-place finish in a time of 15:25.58. In contrast, in the men’s final On athletes, Morgan McDonald secured silver in a time of 13:39.66 and Zach Facioni came seventh crossing the line after 13:44.64, both securing new seasonal bests.

The 1500m final was dominated by OAC Oceania athletes. Ollie Hoare took home silver in a season-best time of 3:37.83, returning to the track after being sidelined for the past 10 months. Teammate Jesse Hunt finished just five milliseconds behind him to round out the podium.

OAC Oceania athlete Ben Buckingham competed in the 3000m steeplechase championships and continued his teammates' fine form, finishing in second place with a season's best time of 8:43.15.
