On bolsters distance roster with 11-time All-American Dylan Jacobs

Zurich, Switzerland, July 3, 2023 - Decorated NCAA athlete Dylan Jacobs makes the jump from collegiate to professional running as he signs with On.
“I feel supported and see so much potential here,” Jacobs said of the announcement, “I want to be a part of a team with high goals and a strong drive to reach them, and I know On is the place to be.”
Originally from Orland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Jacobs grew up playing baseball, soccer, and basketball. He only began running at his mother's suggestion, but once he had run a full year of cross country and track in high school, he was hooked by the sport’s competition and team dynamic.
After a successful high school career, including an Illinois State Title, and a Footlocker Nationals Cross Country Championship, he committed to the University of Notre Dame. Jacobs immediately made an impact as a freshman with the Fighting Irish, running the 1200m leg for the program's distance medley relay team, which won the national indoor title. This Notre Dame championship squad also featured current OAC athlete Yared Nuguse.
Jacobs continued to run at the top of the collegiate competition, finishing 10th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship and winning the NCAA 10,000m title in 2022. With a year of eligibility remaining, he moved to Knoxville to run for The University of Tennessee as a graduate student.
At Tennessee, Jacobs continued to show up at big meets. He took fourth overall at the NCAA Cross Country Championship and set the American Collegiate record for the Indoor 5000m in 13:11:01. He went on to win the same event at the NCAA Indoor Championships that year.
He finished his collegiate career as an 11-time All-American and a three-time national champion between his time at Notre Dame and Tennessee.
Jacobs will continue to train in Knoxville and said that outside of running, he enjoys following Chicago sports, being around friends and family, and traveling.
“I have realized that most people perform better when they are enjoying every aspect of the sport, and I try to keep that as a primary focus.”
