On Marks a Notable Step in its Journey towards Circularity with the Launch of the Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1
New performance running shoe features a Speedboard® created from recycled Cloudneo shoes and leftover materials from the manufacturing process, marking an important step in On’s circularity program.

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND - September 30, 2025 - Today, On marks a meaningful milestone in its circularity program, Cyclon™, with the launch of the Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 . This new shoe represents a tangible outcome of the brand’s efforts to give materials a second life, featuring a key component made from a specific blend of recycled materials.
The Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 marks a notable step in On’s journey to explore circularity and its potential for the brand. The shoe’s new Speedboard® is composed of 99.5% recycled materials, derived from a combination of materials from post-consumer Cloudneo shoes returned by subscribers and leftover materials from the manufacturing process.
This launch is a direct result of the original commitment made when the Cyclon subscription service began in 2022: to explore how to keep high-performance materials in circulation. The path to this point has been a collaborative process, made possible by both our dedicated subscriber community and the network of partners who built the intricate system required to bring this to life. It required time to collect a sufficient volume of returned Cyclon shoes to make the recycling process both efficient and responsible. Now, materials from those collected products - blended with leftover materials from the manufacturing process - have been thoughtfully repurposed.
“The Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 is a humble but profound step for us. It’s a tangible demonstration of what’s possible when we connect products, business models, and operations in circular systems,” said Serena Bonomi, Head of Circularity at On. “We’ve learned immensely throughout this process - from understanding consumer behavior, collecting materials, required infrastructures and logistics, to recycling limitations and potentials. This launch is a proof point that we can give materials a new purpose by combining post-consumer shoes with manufacturing leftovers, and it strengthens our resolve to continue building more circular systems.”
While the core innovation lies in the recycled Speedboard®, the running experience remains consistent. The Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 maintains the same inclusive wide fit and versatile, neutral running sensation as the original Cloudrise, demonstrating that integrating a blend of recycled materials can uphold the performance standards expected from On.
The Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 is being introduced exclusively in a limited edition and is available to all Cyclon program subscribers in the USA, Canada, the EU, Switzerland, and the UK. This launch is a crucial phase that allows us to gather insights and refine our processes. We are constantly reviewing the Cyclon program and aim to evolve it in line with the needs of our community.
