On track athletes shine with podium results and fast times
Yared Nuguse, Athanas Kioko, Kieran Lumb, Robert Farken, George Mills, Marta Garcia, Olivia Gürth, Rached Pellaud, Noah Baltus and Sarah Madeleine all set new personal bests.

Zurich, Switzerland, 29 May 2023 — The weekend was chock-full of track action with On athletes taking podium spots from Rabat, to Los Angeles to Rehlingen, Germany. In total, On athletes achieved ten personal bests at competitions all across the world.
Diamond League Rabat: Nuguse and Hoare go 2-3, Hurta-Klecker third
In his first clash with Olympic gold medalist Jacob Ingebrigtsen, rising OAC star Yared Nuguse claimed second place in a new personal best of 3:33.02 at the Diamond League Meet in Rabat.
Ingebrigtsen reigned supreme and dictated the pace over the 1500 meters of the race, but Nuguse and teammate Oli Hoare hung on in his slipstream. Even if Nuguse's famed sprint qualities down the finish straight came too late and he was not able to endanger the Norwegian’s victory in the end, Nuguse claimed a new personal best on 3:33.02, and also Oli Hoare claimed a season-best 3:33.39 in third. OAC teammate Mario Garcia Romo finished sixth with another season-best of 03:34.69.
Sage Hurta-Klecker was in action in the women’s 800m race and claimed third place at the victory of Mary Moraa. Hurta-Klecker only had to let the Kenyan and Australia’s Catriona Bisset pass and claimed yet another OAC season best with 2:00.62.
Mohamed Amin Jhinaoui finished in ninth in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:16.49 and took home yet another On-athlete season best.
Podium results continue at USATF LA Grand Prix
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, nine more On athletes were in action at the gold-level USATF LA Grand Prix at Drake Stadium.
Steeplechaser Alicia Koniciek claimed second place in the 3000m SC event. Koniciek only had to let USA’s Madie Boreman pass and finished in 9:25.51, a new season best for the Pole. Geordie Beamish continued to shine in his transition to 3000m SC: the Kiwi claimed third place in 8:21.84 and only had to concede defeat to winner Ahmed Jaziri and runner-up Isaac Updike. OAC teammate Josette Norris claimed yet another podium in the women’s 1500m race which she finished with a new season best of 4:00.77.
New On athlete Athanas Kioko and a great start into the partnership and finished fourth in a new personal best of 13:09.51 in the men’s 5000m event. Ben Flanagan was ninth (13:16.34). Teammate Hannah Steelman was eleventh in the women’s 5000m but set a new season best in 15:35.14.
OAC Oceania’s Tess Kirsopp Cole won the women’s 800m C-race in 2:03.96. Aaliyah Miller was seventh in the B-race, finishing in 2:06.13. Canadian On athlete Kieran Lumb continued an in-form showing and claimed the win and a new personal best (3:35.9). in the men’s 1500m B-race.
OAC Europe athletes shine at Pfingssportfest Rehlingen
European On athletes and much of the OAC Europe team were in action at the Pfingssportfest in Rehlingen, Germany.
OAC Europe took full control of the men’s 1500m event with a 1-2 finish by Robert Farken and George Mills and a fifth place for Tom Elmer.
Robert Farken continued to prove he is back to full strength after a phase of hip problems forced him to the sidelines for much of the last year. In Rehlingen, he finished in 3:32.10, which was not only a new personal best but the fourth-fastest 1500m time ever run by a German athlete. Mills and Elmer also finished with new personal bests (3:33.16 and 3:35.62 respectively and Robert and George achieved the world championship standard.
Teammate Marta Garcia achieve the same feat in the women’s 1500m in which the Spaniard came in second with a new personal best of 4:07.23. New On athlete Olivia Gürth proved yet again that she is in good shape right now by running a new 1500m personal best as well. She finished in tenth with a time of 4:14.86. Fellow On athletes Fabiane Meyer and Lilly Nägeli were eleventh and fourteenth respectively.
Frederik Ruppert claimed another podium result for On in the 3,000m SC. The German finished in 8:26.61 and took position two. Rachel Pellaud finished seventh in the women's 800m event but also set a new personal best with 2:01,86.
Madeleine and Baltus soar to new heights at Oordegem
OAC Europe's Noah Baltus and On athlete Sarah Madeleine both set new personal records at the IFAM Oordegem meet in the Netherlands. Madeleine won the women's 1500m race in 4:10.79, while Baltus claimed the third spot on the podium in 3:37.02.
Nora Gmur takes second at European Triathlon Cup Olsztyn
In Triathlon, Nora Gmur led the On efforts this weekend with a great second place at the European Triathlon Cup in Olsztyn, Poland. The Swiss completed the event in 00:59:22 and only had to let winner Selina Klamt pass.
The World Triathlon Championship Series events in Cagliari did not result in any podium positions for On triathletes this time but Lisa Tertsch claimed a good eighth position (01:48:51), while Verena Steinhauser was eleventh (01:49:02). In the men's event, Kristian Blummenfelt was the best On athletes in 15th, Gustav Iden finished 42nd.
