ZURICH, Switzerland, December 8, 2025 – On, the premium Swiss performance sportswear brand, today announced a structural engineering breakthrough, combining its newly-created superfoam—SURREAL—with On’s iconic CloudTec® cushioning system. Based on specialized Finite Element Analysis simulations conducted at On Labs, the combination of these two technologies—a first for On and the industry—is predicted to result in significantly greater impact absorption than with SURREAL foam alone.

On’s engineers achieved this technological advancement through multiple years of material innovation, structural engineering, and biomechanical testing in On Labs Zurich. Using computer-aided engineering, On’s innovation team can now apply this breakthrough to Cloudsurfer 3 and other products, crafting new levels of performance and sensation.

Introducing Cloudsurfer 3
On will introduce this breakthrough technology in the new Cloudsurfer 3, which debuted at The Running Event in San Antonio, Texas, December 2-4, 2025.
The redesigned Cloudsurfer 3 is a premium performance running shoe that offers a softer, smoother ride, achieved through the combination of On’s CloudTec Phase™ cushioning system and SURREAL foam. This pairing adapts in real time—helping to absorb impact and guide heel-to-toe transitions in a seamless roll.
Beginning with Cloudsurfer 3, SURREAL foam is set to become a core technology used across On’s performance range, adding to On’s existing portfolio of Helion and Helion HF foams.
