The adaptive CloudTec® technology

On’s patented technology combines all the benefits of a soft training shoe and a hard and fast racing shoe; a radical development in the sports industry. Land on the sand, push off from the running track!

The secret to this bold new dual functionality lies in the On’s “Clouds” – hollow pods on the sole of the shoe that stretch back on impact to cushion the landing and then lock to form the solid foundation required for a powerful push-off. Each On model has a different number of cloud elements. Each element is uniquely positioned, shaped and sized to cushion individually while functioning optimally as part of a whole. 

The innovative On Speedboard®

If you have more energy, you are faster – that's the thinking behind every Speedboard® On makes. Our Speedboard® is a stiff board that is bent on landing and immediately returns to its original shape on take-off. The Speedboard® works almost like a bow: By absorbing and immediately releasing the energy generated by the running movement and gravity, it transforms even more running momentum into forward movement - for more energy.

​Together with the Cloud elements, the On Speedboard™®supports the natural rolling movement of the foot: Landing. Kick-off. Next step. The perfect interaction of these components creates an active running experience. Each Speedboard® is adapted to the respective model and matched to the entire sole.

The Speedboard® is a liquid-injected plate of thermoplastic polymer sitting between the CloudTec® midsole and the upper. A glance between the Cloud elements on the sole of an On shoe is enough to see the bottom of the Speedboard®. In some models, like the Cloudace, Cloudflash and new Cloudsurfer, the Speedboard® extends the full width of the shoe so that the outer edge is also visible.

Helion™ superfoam

Helion™ is a foam cushioning material that uses advanced manufacturing methods to fuse stiffer foam elements with softer sections. In this way, Helion™ provides properties that were previously only possible in independent materials: Helion™ is light on weight but big on energy return, responsive yet protective. It is also resistant to temperature changes for year-round high performance. Helion™ is more than just a foam, it’s a superfoam. ​ Helion™ Your Run with the Cloudswift. 

Missiongrip™

No two trails are the same. Embracing that unpredictability means a sole that can handle anything. Missiongrip™ brings trail-level toughness to the unmistakeable sensation of running on clouds. The multiple grip pattern of the Missiongrip™ outsole digs into soft trail terrain. Thus, different traction patterns and the "sticky" rubber layer provide grip on both rough and smooth surfaces. In combination with the unique shock absorption of the CloudTec®, the impact is taken out of steep slopes, so that even the descent is easy and safe. Whatever the off-road mission, the Cloudventure with Missiongrip™ is a reliable partner.

Zero-Gravity Foam

Zero-Gravity Foam offers the ultimate in ultralight. Advanced abrasion pads ensure superior grip and add longevity to lightweight. Zero-Gravity can be experienced with the Cloud.

Rebound Rubber

Cloud elements made of rebound rubber is Swiss-engineered to offer a revolutionary, responsive running sensation. ​ Due to low abrasion the shoe is particularly durable. This way, the running experience stays the same mile after mile. The original On experience can be enjoyed in the latest version of the Cloudsurfer.
