Robert Farken Breaks 45-Year-Old German Record
Farken broke the record at the Diamond League meet in Rome, while Claudia Tremps dominated on the Austrian trails at the Mozart 100

National Record and World Champ Qualifying Times
Zurich, Switzerland, June 8, 2025 - Robert Farken kicked off his season with a bang at the Diamond League Meet in Rome, breaking the German 1500m record that had stood for almost 45 years. Running from the front, Farken kept a steady pace for the first laps and slotting in behind the pacer. As the pacer peeled off, Farken took the lead, a position he held as the final lap bell rang out. With 300m to go, Farken saw Habz (FRA), Cheruiyot (KEN9 and Essayi (MOR) pass him, and ultimately settle in fourth place in a time of 3:30.80. Despite narrolwy missing the podium, there was plenty for Farken to celebrate as he broke the German record for the 1500m distance that had stood for almost 45 years and a shiny new PB.
In the women’s 5000m, On athletes Freweyni Hailu (ETH), Josette Andrews (US), Marta Garcia (ESP), Sarah Madeleine (FRA) and Francine Niyomukunzi (BDI) all dipped below the World Athletic Championship standard of 14:50.00 and will be in key positions to be nominated by their respective federations later in the season. Hailu secured a new PB and second-place finish in 14:19.33, while Andrews knocked an incredible 18 seconds off her previous 5000m PB and moved up to US third all-time in 14:25.37.
Claudia Tremps Triumphs at Mozart 100

With panoramic trails through the Salzkammergut, tough ascents of the Nockstein, and a finish in Salzburg’s Old Town, the Mozart 100 race was a top stop on the UTMB World Series. Claudia Tremps of Spain lined up for the 120km distance with 6000m of elevation as the favourite to take the title. And there was little to stop Tremps as she made her way through the Austrian Alps, eventually crossing the finish line in 13:46.07, setting a new course record and finishing 40 minutes ahead of the second-placed female runner.
Silver Times in Eagleman
At the Ironman 70.3 Eagleman in Cambridge, United States, Chelsea Sodaro and Trevor Foley continued their seasons, both securing the silver medals in their respective races.
Sodaro found herself about two minutes behind the leader after the swim, but wasted no time in leaving it all out there to finish on the podium. On the bike, she was in fourth, with a three-minute gap between her and leader Lucy Charles-Barclay. She charged into the run, quickly moving up into second place and bringing the gap down to 1:22. Despite hopes for a finish line sprint finish, Charles-Barclay stayed ahead as the final mile ticked on, ultimately winning, with Sodaro crossing the finish line 1 minute and 11 seconds behind her.
In the men’s race, an epic battle between Sam Long and On athlete Trevor Foley unfolded, with Long snatching the title. Coming out of the water in 18th, Foley found himself in a chase group of seven athletes on the bike, meaning it was all to play for in the run. Long and Foley chased down Robert Kallin and, by mile four, had overtaken him. With about eight kilometers left to go, Long made the decisive move, leaving Foley to finish in second in a time of 3:37.17.
