Running and art for all
Swiss sports brand On is Official Partner to Art Basel.
The On Structure, a sculpture that sprays refreshing mist at this year’s Art Basel
Zurich, Switzerland, 24 September 2021 — Swiss running brand On has teamed up with Art Basel, the international art fair. The aim of the partnership: to open up new perspectives. And the core idea behind it: to make running as accessible to all as possible. On was launched as a genuine running brand, and continues to steadily attract an ever-growing base of fans and followers.
At the heart of the new collaboration are a series of Art Walks and Runs accompanied by reputed curator Gianni Jetzer, in which visitors can explore selected highlights of the Art Basel Parcours sector with the help of expert eyes and can simultaneously experience the new On Cloudaway urban/outdoor hybrid shoe. Participants will gain unique insights into the carefully chosen artworks while also getting to know and appreciate the unique On feel.
The Art Walks and Runs will be held twice daily throughout this year’s Art Basel show. The starting point is always the same: the On Structure, a sculpture inspired by the familiar On logo, which is located on Messeplatz
Young sports brand On has been challenging the status quo since it was founded 11 years ago. Its unique Cloud technology has revolutionized the running experience. The same attitude and approach, and their underlying spirit of exploration and discovery, remain undimmed today. Dream On.
Art also changes perspectives, often radically so, by spotlighting the world around us and calling it into question. In its Art Basel partnership, On is exploring new territories in its own DNA: discovery, design and inclusivity have always been elemental in the On brand identity.
Artists and athletes both draw on all their potential and test their very limits to generate excellence through exertion. Art Basel is a place where, for several days, many of these iconic art products are gathered together and made accessible to the public. To further develop and sustainably anchor this participatory experience, On has also elected to highlight the work of exceptional Swiss female artist Pamela Rosenkranz (born 1979) and make one of her creations more permanently available for public view.
Pamela Rosenkranz’s work transcends materiality through explorations of the particularites composing our world, abstracting biological and cultural impacts on human experience. While the body is often the measure of size, color and shape in her works, it is omitted and expressed in its most conceptual shape. Her paintings, sculptures and installations, pair familiar objects like Evian or Fiji water bottles and Viagra (mass-produced solutions to incredibly contemporary problems) with reductions of the bodily.
On is donating a new large-format painting from Rosenkranz’s ongoing Viagra series. On Friday 24 September David Allemann, On Co-founder, presented the work to Mirjam Varadinis, Curator for Contemporary Art at Kunsthaus Zurich Museum, with the artist in attendance.

The donation is dedicated to both the artist and the museum, and intends to make the work publicly available to everyone seeking to experience the artist and her work.
The donated work will have its first showing at the Kunsthaus Zürich in next year’s "Take care: Art and Medicine" exhibition, which will run from 8 April to 17 July 2022.
Pamela Rosenkranz has been represented by the Karma International gallery since its foundation.
