Swiss sports brand On blends art and movement at Art Basel

On is continuing its partnership with Art Basel in Basel with Walks of Life

Zurich, Switzerland, May 17, 2022- For this 2022 show, which runs from June 16 to 19, On has devised an appealing initiative that should inspire art aficionados to more movement and exercise, too: its Walks of Life.

With its unique Cloud technology and its innovative design approach, sports brand On revolutionized the running experience when it was founded 12 years ago. On has continued to challenge the status quo ever since, with its unstinting ambition and its fundamental drive for further new discovery.

Studies by various reputed institutions* have confirmed that, as well as promoting physical and mental health and well-being, walking and running encourage inspiration and creativity and nurture the development of new and possibly world-changing ideas.

It’s this key connection that On is keen to emphasize in the latest chapter of its partnership with Art Basel. Its aim: to help art enthusiasts gain new perspectives, by inspiring them to more movement both at and beyond the show. Its means: a new program of activities entitled Walks of Life:

Art Walks – Basel

On these 90-minute guided walks, which are accompanied by top curator Gianni Jetzer, interested visitors can try out On’s Cloudaway urban outdoor shoe as they explore selected highlights of Art Basel's Parcours Sector, curated by Samuel Leuenberger . Participants are thus offered special insights and background information on the carefully chosen artworks, while getting to know and appreciate the unique On walking sensation.

The Art Walks will be conducted twice daily around Basel's historic district during Art Basel in Basel. All walks begin on Messeplatz at the On Structure, an intriguing sculpture consisting of metal elements of the On logo.

Advance registration is required for these walks. To register, click here.

The walks will begin:

Wednesday June 15 at 10:00 and at 17:00
Thursday June 16at 10:00 and at 17:00
Friday June 17 only at 14:00
Saturday June 18 at 10:00 and 17:00
Sunday June 19, only at 10:00.

Sound Walks – cloudaway.com

On does not want to limit the opportunity to explore art through movement to the attendees at Art Basel 2022, though. So On will also be providing a new digital platform that invites its user into a surreal world of video and audio art on June 17: its Sound Walks.

The venue for this further unique experience is cloudaway.com, where visitors will find three different audio tracks, each composed by a different artist. Each track is an invitation to explore one of Art Basel’s three city locations: Basel, Miami and Hong Kong. And each offers a blend of the city’s genuine audio environment and experimental ambient elements that urges the listener to immerse themselves in the soundscape concerned.

The 20-minute recordings are intended to be experienced while walking, to help the listener relax. But they can only be heard on a mobile device if the user is in motion. The visual and acoustic landscapes have been created in collaboration with the Bureau Borsche design studio and various audio artists. cloudaway.com
